Update lands on schedule
Consensys tagged Teku 26.8.0 on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 23:56 UTC as a recommended Ethereum consensus-client update with breaking changes. The GitHub release on Consensys/teku and the matching Docker Hub tag 26.8.0 confirm the build. Legacy web3j Eth1/PoW deposit-log fetching is removed so a node no longer needs an Eth1 JSON-RPC endpoint. Deposits now come from the finalized deposit-tree snapshot and in-protocol EIP-6110 execution requests.

Non-production validator-tools send-deposits and generate-and-send-deposits subcommands were dropped while generate-keys stayed untouched. The GetDepositSnapshot RPC endpoint was removed per Beacon API spec v3.0.0. Beacon REST API cancelled requests now time out after 30 seconds. BeaconBlocksByRange single-block empty-response edge case received a fix. Archive nodes on leveldb-tree databases still face long startup times, so operators skip this tag if their beacon/db/db.version shows that database.
Distinct from other clients
This is a Teku consensus-client patch, not Lighthouse v8.2.2, not Besu 26.8.0, and not Nethermind v1.39.3. Each client ships on its own timeline and the market treats them as separate events rather than one coordinated upgrade.
Community timing
High-energy community channels noted the August 10 tag right away so independent operators could test before the next Lighthouse release. Self-funded groups value the early notice because they control their own capital and their own infrastructure decisions without waiting for external funding cycles.
